Getting it to you

Delivery

When will my order be dispatched?+

We cut and pack to order rather than holding stock in a warehouse, so your charcuterie leaves us as fresh as it can be. Orders placed before Wednesday at 9am are dispatched the same week. Anything placed after that goes out on the following dispatch day.

Once your box is collected you will get an email from us. Delivery is Tuesday to Friday, within 24 to 48 hours of shipping. We do not dispatch Friday to Sunday, so nothing sits in a depot over a weekend.

How much is delivery?+

UK delivery is £6, and free on orders over £75. A few remote areas, such as offshore islands, carry a higher rate, which checkout shows before you pay.

Salami snack sticks ordered on their own ship for £4, and free over £20. If your order mixes snack sticks with anything else, the standard rate above applies.

How is my order packed?+

Each piece is wrapped or sealed individually, then packed into a cardboard box sized to the order, so there is as little empty space as possible, which is better for the contents and better for the van.

Air dried charcuterie is cured to keep without refrigeration, so it travels happily at ambient temperature. That is rather the point of curing. Fresh cuts travel with ice packs, and on hot days we use insulated poly boxes, so everything arrives as it left the farm. Please open the box and refrigerate everything as soon as it arrives.

What happens if nobody is at home?+

This is fresh food, so it is worth sending it somewhere it will be taken in promptly. A work address often works better than a home one. Add a safe place or a neighbour in the delivery instructions at checkout and the courier will follow it.

If nobody is in and no safe place is given, the courier will notify you using the contact details you leave at checkout, so it is worth giving a number or email you actually check. The box is packed to keep everything in good condition for 48 hours from shipping, and we cannot guarantee it beyond that.

Do you deliver outside the UK?+

We deliver across the UK mainland. The Scottish Highlands, offshore islands and Northern Ireland may carry a different rate or transit time.

Sending meat abroad brings export and customs rules that change country by country, so we cannot offer international delivery as standard. Write to us with the destination and we will tell you honestly whether it is possible. If you are ordering from overseas for a UK address, that is no trouble at all.

Can I track my order?+

Yes. When your box is collected you will receive a dispatch email with a tracking link, so you can see where it is and roughly when it will land.

Delivery is within 24 to 48 hours of shipping, so if tracking has not moved two days after dispatch, tell us. We would far rather chase it for you than have a box sitting somewhere it should not be.

Once you have ordered

Your order

Can I change or cancel my order?+

Get in touch as soon as you can and we will do what we can. While the order is still with us we can usually amend the contents, the address or the dispatch week. Once it has been packed and collected by the courier we cannot recall it.

The earlier you reach us before your dispatch day, the more we can do. Contact us with your order number and we will confirm either way.

Something arrived damaged or is missing. What now?+

Let us know as soon as you can after delivery and send a photo of the box and the contents as you found them. We will replace the affected items or refund them, whichever you prefer.

Because this is fresh food we are not able to take back items that have been opened or stored badly. A genuine problem with an order is always put right.

Where do I find ingredients and allergen information?+

Ingredients are listed on every product page and printed on the pack that arrives with you. Allergens are declared in the ingredient list, in capitals.

If you are ordering for somebody with a serious allergy, please contact us before you order. We will check the specific batch rather than give you a general answer.

Can I order for a particular date?+

Yes. Add the date in the order notes at checkout, or tell us afterwards, and we will time dispatch so it arrives in the right week. It helps to give us as much notice as you can.

For Christmas and other busy periods we publish last order dates nearer the time.

Keeping it well

Storage & serving

How should I store my charcuterie?+

It depends on the cut. Whole pieces of our air dried charcuterie and salami are cured to keep, so they are happy in a cool, dry place: a larder or a cool cupboard suits them well. Sliced packs go in the fridge as soon as they arrive, as do fresh cuts, cooking chorizo, morcilla and bacon.

Once anything is opened, keep it refrigerated. Unopened packs keep until the date printed on the pack, and that date and its guidance are written for that specific batch, so follow those.

How long does it keep once opened?+

Once the seal is broken, wrap the piece loosely rather than in cling film so the surface can breathe, and put it back in the fridge. The date and guidance printed on the pack are written for that specific batch, so follow those.

A whole piece will hold better than something already sliced, simply because there is less cut surface. Sliced product is best eaten sooner.

Can I freeze it?+

We would rather you did not. Air dried charcuterie is at its best fresh, and freezing can change the texture of the fat, which with Mangalitsa is rather the point of it.

For fresh cuts such as chops, cutlets and belly, please follow the instructions printed on the pack.

How should I slice and serve it?+

Thin, and across the grain, with a long sharp knife or a slicer on its finest setting. Whole muscle such as coppa, lomo and air dried ham wants to be almost translucent, so the fat melts as you eat it. Salami can take a slightly thicker cut.

Bring it out of the fridge a little while before serving so the fat softens and the flavour opens up. Good bread, something sharp on the side, and not much else. The fat is the flavour, so let it lead.

Chefs, stockists and giving

Trade & gifting

Do you supply restaurants, delis and shops?+

We do. We already supply Michelin starred kitchens, top British hotels and fine food shops with whole muscle charcuterie and fresh Mangalitsa cuts, on wholesale pricing and whole animal thinking.

Minimum order, lead times and trade rates are supplied on application. Open a trade account and we will come back to you with the current sheet.

Can I add a gift note?+

Yes. Write your message in the gift note field at checkout and we will write it out by hand and tuck it into the box. Keep it as short or as long as you like.

No prices are included in the box, so it is safe to send straight to the recipient.

Do you sell gift certificates?+

We do. Beal's Farm Gift Certificates start at £25 and are the sensible answer when you are not certain what somebody already has in the fridge.

They are delivered by email and can be spent on anything on the counter. Have a look at the gift boxes too if you would rather send something they can open.
